It is a dark and stormy night. The tavern door slams open, the cold, the wind and the rain breaching the warmth and coziness of the inn. A flash of lightning reveals the silhouette of a traveller in the doorway.
No, not a traveller. An adventurer.
“Hail, and well met”, says the innkeep. “What would you like?”
“Stories”, replies the adventurer. “Stories to tell. Stories to learn. Let us trade.”
This blog is for recording my solo Ironsworn playthroughs. I use those playthroughs to inspire my writing, and the story on this blog is the result.
Understanding Ironsworn isn’t necessary for reading the story I’m building, but if you want to see the actions and rolls I make during the playthrough, there is a Show/Hide Ironsworn Notes link just under the chapter headings that you can click to show my notes. If you try it now on this page, you’ll see a little collapsible section titled Ironsworn: Generic Move with some example notes just below this paragraph.
Generic Ironsworn Move: +3 Wits
- Hit: 6 + 3 = 9 vs 7 | 8
The base Ironsworn setting is meant to be dark and gritty, but my writing style doesn’t really accomodate that, so I created my own. Also note that I’m using the game to inspire my fiction. If you are reading through my playthrough notes, I’m sure you’ll see that I make mistakes and bend the rules here and there, and there may be long stretches where I ignore the game mechanics as the story unfolds.
